And finally the last part of the summer update for KTERA. New features to improve quality of life in general and for tanks.

The Vanguard Initiative quest list will highlight the instance that will reward you with better gear than what you currently have while hiding away ones that reward anything lower. Of course, it will pop up on the list if you have cleared it.
Any instances that reward items not limited to weapons or armour will still show as it has before. In addition to all of the above changes the quests related to instances will also have an IMS icon for you to queue directly from the UI.
Respawn Point and Instance Merchant
The respawn point, in the event that you die horribly, has been changed to the entrance of the instance.
Furthermore, a general merchant has been placed at the entrance selling charms, scrolls, nostrums, and bandages. The scrolls may be overpriced but everything else is there. The merchant will also have the option to fully restore your HP / MP / Stamina.
Limited Use Re-Challenge Scroll
All high level instances will now present players with a “Re-Challenge Scroll” which includes the above consumables if you die. For a price of course.
Will only apply to players who have less than 5 clears in the specified instances.
Max 10 times per run, 50 gold each

There probably are tanks who enter an instance for the first time only to taste bitter defeat not knowing how and when the boss will attack. For start-up tanks they’ve added a new feature for tanks to be able to see exactly when and where the attack will be coming from.
Of course, this does not apply to all the instances. To kick it off this system will be in place for the upcoming instances in the July update and will only be available in the lower difficulty ones.
Do remember that some attacks will not have indicators.
A new navigator will be added to all instances and world maps to help players find their way. A blue arrow will be shown on the map and players will be able to mouseover said icon where a tool-tip will appear with instructions on what will be required at point A or B and so forth. Once the objective has been met a new arrow will show you the way.
Keep in mind that if there is a split path there may be instances where you and your group will need to choose wisely.
Threat Generation Improvements
One of the biggest problems when it came to tanking was that no matter how you improve your gear your threat generation did not scale as well as a DPS’ damage scaled with their gear.
If that wasn’t enough trouble even with the introduction of the Eclipse Potions did little to improve what was expected of tanks. Simply put the Eclipse Potions did little to lessen the actual damage differences between a pure DPS and a tank.
For Warriors and Berserkers, their respective stances for tanking will increase threat generated by skills.
By improving and increasing the threat generated by a tank’s damage output the new crystals will provide further synergy with their tanking. Tanks will now be able to incorporate damage related crystals to improve both their damage and threat generation through the damage they do.
Stop Being a Pushover
If you have played a tank at any point you are probably very familiar with the insides of many boss hitboxes and feet. Tanks often traded a comfortable camera angle to improve the back side uptime for their DPS.
To combat such issues where tanks were forced up against the wall the bosses will not push you as much as they do now which should allow tanks to really tank anywhere and still give their DPS the back side of the boss.
There will be some balance changes coming for Lancers and tanking. When tanking their damage will be increased and will also provide further support to their parties.
New and Improved Glyphs

There will be some new crystals added for ranged classes and tanks. Note that the names are literal translations.
- Guardian: Increase Crit Power when attacking from the front.
- Judgement: Increase Crit Power when attacking from the flank or back with a ranged attack skill.
The new crystals can be obtained via Crystal Box or through the Vanguad Initiative credit shop.
Some crystals will see their values change and some will no longer allow multiple instances. For example the threatening crystals will have the value of four in one allowing tanks to utilize other damage oriented crystals.
On the other hand the poised crystals will no longer be allowed to equip more than one to help increase the tension when fighting enraged monsters.
When the update hits all Niveots with changed values will be removed and redistributed with the new values.
